The Authoritative Minesweeper: World Record History

This is a collection of known Minesweeper world records. Best times for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert have been collected for a long time, but 3bv/s records only started a few years ago - it is possible some of the early great players (such as Lasse Nyholm) beat many of these records. Unfortunately we will never know, because it wasn't until 2004 that players started paying attention to stats such as 3bv/s, RQP, IOE or IOS.

Gernot made this on the Dreamboard. At the time it was thought each player had one chance at each board. The fact Gernot got the same board twice led to the discovery of Board Cycles. There was no intentional UPK on this game and no Clones existed at the time that let you to practice boards. This record has been allowed to stand. If this record was rejected, then the World Record sequence is Sriram Sridharan with 14 on 20010108 then Damien Moore with a 13 on 20010531. If you ignore the 10 on the Dreamboard made by Matt McGinley on 20010627 (now rejected), then the first 12 was made by Owen Fox also on the Dreamboard on 20010912 (this score was accepted).
