Play For Money
From Minesweeper Wiki
Did you know you can earn money playing Minesweeper?
[edit] How It Works
Each game is solved without guessing. You are given a rank and you play people with a similar score. Your ranking changes based on who you beat and how often you win.
As a Guest you receive $10 of play money. If you become a Member you get to keep your winnings, withdraw money, challenge other players and enter the big money tournaments. You earn points and reward money even if you do not win.
I joined in 2002 and earned $300 the first year and $450 the second year. My ranking increased to the maximum, so there is now only one player I can compete with! You do not have to worry about playing the best players unless you are one of the best! I now mostly play some of the more popular games like SwapIt and Solitaire Rush.
There are currently about 50 Minesweeper players so the Weekly contest averages about $40. Other games have over 1200 players and Daily prizes of $600 for each ranking level. If more of us joined it could get interesting!
If you join using PayPal the site will deposit money directly into your account. Otherwise they will mail you a cheque, usually about three weeks after you request it. If you complain about a tournament they return your entry fee. You can keep track of winnings in your Player Account.

[edit] Tips for Minesweeper
- Chord by right clicking on a number instead of pressing both buttons.
- Play slower. Winning by a large margin increases your rank quickly. If you are listed on the Authoritative Minesweeper you already are in the Higher ranks.
- If you win a Daily or Weekly prize you can not enter the next one. It is better to be 2nd every time: you will win the same amount of money and your ranking will be lower.
- Play other games. Games like SwapIt, Solitaire Rush, Pool, Zuma and Bejeweled are more popular than Minesweeper and have much larger tournaments.
