Minesweeper Games (Spectrum)

From MinesweeperWiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

The Spectrum Computer was released in 1982 and built until 1987. It was mainly sold in the UK, although clones were sold elsewhere and it was popular in the Soviet Union until much later. Most games for the Spectrum are written in Sinclair BASIC and use a keyboard or optional joystick. You can play most of them using the free Eighty-One emulator. Some games listed here require a TR-DOS emulator, such as Spectaculator, and this is noted where relevant.

Original version has grids of 8x8 (8 mines), 10x10 (12 mines) and 12x12 (25 mines). It uses the standard O for left, P right, Q up, A down, and [SPACE] as a click. It is slow generating boards and openings. Version 2.0 was written the next day in C for comparison. It is much faster, has three sets of controls, and its grids are 8x8 (8 mines), 12x12 (18 mines) and 15x15 (30 mines). Score is the number of squares opened, there is no timer.
Written for the ZX Spectrum 48K as part of a programming contest. Actual title is "NoP's Minesweeper" and can be played in English or Spanish.
