"The Guestbook" is the most popular meeting place for minesweeper players. It is part of the Authoritative Minesweeper website. Created in April 2000, it has been part of many important events in the sweeping community. Each year the guestbook is archived and old copies are available for download. Posting there is one way to submit scores to the world ranking.

[edit] History of Minesweeper Guestbooks

The first important guestbook belonged to the Unofficial Minesweeper Page. It was created 24 Oct 1996 and the last known post was 25 Jul 1997. It was replaced by the guestbook at Minesweeper Tips by Brian Chu. This served as the center of the minesweeper community from 08 Jul 1997 until 09 Sep 2000. This in turn was replaced by the guestbook at Authoritative Minesweeper which started on 06 Apr 2000 and is still active.

Other guestbooks have played important roles in the community. Hall of the Minesweeper had a popular guestbook with posts starting 06 Jul 1997 and ending 20 Aug 1999. The original French ranking at Chez Démineur had a guestbook around the same time. The Planete Démineur site started with a guestbook 01 Sep 2001 but replaced it with a Forum in 2004. Unfortunately no copies exist of either French guestbook.

[edit] Other Ways To Meet Players

The Minesweeper Addicts group was extremely popular from 1999-2005. Since then the IRC minesweeper channel has become a standard way of meeting other addicts. Every year since 2005 there have been international tournaments.
