today i found this link posted in a thread in the speedsolving forum:
http://gizmodo.com/can-you-solve-the-10 ... socialflow
number 10 on the list is described as 'minesweeper-like'. it took me about 2 minutes to solve a beginner's puzzle but now i'm going to try the big puzzle.
update: 1h 45m into the the puzzle that is mentioned in the linked article and it's starting to get really difficult. probably no more than 10% of the squares are solved at this point.
can you solve the 10 hardest logic puzzles ever created?

About 1,5 hours and I am still finding some "straight-forward" solving areas. But it's kinda exhausting to do 5 min of searching to see one.

this still happens to me after 5h 30m. 25-30% solved by now.Judith Sunrise wrote:About 1,5 hours and I am still finding some "straight-forward" solving areas. But it's kinda exhausting to do 5 min of searching to see one.

The other day I spent most of the day on it (off and on) and got probably 90%, stuck on the lower left area. I used a bit of help from the "check squares" thing, but not for guess-and-check, just to make sure I didn't make mistakes (which I did several times). It's quite a tough puzzle.
I'm thinking it would be cool to set up some kind of program to generate puzzles like this. I'm not exactly sure how I would, but I know I can borrow much of the solver from the Tatham minesweeper puzzle.

NF player. Best scores 1-10-39.

Same here. Once I had a whole area wrong. It's a very arduous puzzle indeed.qqwref wrote:I used a bit of help from the "check squares" thing, but not for guess-and-check, just to make sure I didn't make mistakes (which I did several times).
I'm done after 16h27m.

Here is the hardest part. All the other part can be solved by reasoning, though a set of 5 in the middle is really hard. My method here is supposing a cell to be black - then contradiction. One of the contradiction is according to the 23 structure in the bottom of 4th column.
Things were obvious after this:

Took me about 16 hours to finish this as well. Last bit frustrating as mentioned.
