When to flag
When to flag
I'm starting to feel limited by my terrible IOE (partly as a result of severe over-flagging). Are there any guides out there about when to flag?

Re: When to flag
on beginner: 1 flag per 5 3bv
on intermediate: 5-10 flags on a board with low 3bv, 20 flags at most on any other board
on expert: provided your record is below 80s, 1 flag per second
the most simple guideline might be this: only use a flag when it doesn't cost clicks.
the reason you use flags is that they allow you to chord and thereby solve more than one square with a single chord. if you chord on a 1 it takes 2 clicks: 1 for the chord and 1 to flag the mine. if the chord only opens a single square you effectively wasted a click. the same applies for higher numbers. always consider how many more mines need to be flagged before you make a chord. some mines might already be flagged from previous chords.
